@GSKD13333 I had a massive tonsil which I had to pick with a cocktail stick to remove these things the other one was not so big and did not produce tonsil stones its interesting to hear from someone with a similar problem I had my tonsils out 28 years ago now but still remember the grief they caused it was so big I used to nearly swallow it when I swigged a pint down

@darkwhitty I too have very similar symptoms to this. Not only are these things a huge annoyance but I have a sore throat almost everyday as well. Are there any ways aside from surgery?

I read online that GSE can be toxic in high concentration like 8-11%…. Is that why you water it down? And is it possible to feel fever like symptoms from tonsil stones?
Thanks,

How can tonsil stones (tonsilloliths) be prevented?
Since tonsil stones are more common in people who have chronic tonsillitis, the only surefire way to prevent their occurrence is with surgical removal of the tonsils. This procedure, known as a tonsillectomy, removes the tissues of the tonsils entirely, thereby eliminating the possibility of tonsillolith formation.

I went to the speacialist and she said that my tonsils are sorta in a horrible shape and that it caused tonsils stones and the only way to be for sure to get rid of it is to remove my tonsils. I have felt that my throat is in terrible shape, my choir singing is bothering, and the breath and stones are just annoying. I agree to surgery but will it effect my siging? My speaking voice? Does anyone know?

ITS WORTH IT!!! DO IT!!!

When i get one every once in awhile, i just shoot at it with a water pick and it comes right off within seconds :]
Way way way way better than using a Q-tip

I am constantly tired all the time and have normal sleep schedule and what not….I just noticed that I had these stones, could this be the cause of my lethargy?

@darkwhitty Have you seen an ENT? This is for tonsil stones, not actual swollen glands!! A constant sore throat is the sign of enlarged tonsils that may actually need to be removed. Removing the bacteria that causes small tonsil stones will not cure your frequent sore throats.

@darkwhitty
I got tonsil stones too. really the only thing you can do is maintain it by using long q-tips and fingers to wiggle the stuff out then gargle with mouthwash until you can afford one of the surgical methods of sealing those crypts.
HOWEVER, I’ve found that putting a drop of the strongest anti-bacterial soap I can find on the tip of a thermometer and sticking it down into the crypt then gargling the excess soap out kills a LOT of the smell but not the stones from coming back.

@darkwhitty Tonsillectomy….just saying.
November 15, 2010
@darkwhitty Well you can’t cure mucus running down from your sinuses so you can get rid of the ones that form or you can get rid of the tonsils themselfs. I actually cut off the end of a q-tip and use the stub to pick them out. it’s probably not good but whatever
